Concetta S. Montanaro

Concetta S. Montanaro, 91, of Gloversville, passed away on December 28, 2016, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Montanaro was born on August 14, 1925, in Cervinora, Italy. She was the daughter of Frank and Natalina (Moscatiello) Salvati. She came to America in 1948 after her first husband, Joseph Terminie, was killed in the war. She worked as a glove maker at various glove factories in Johnstown and Gloversville. She worked hard and brought her entire family, including her daugher, Josephine, from Italy to America. She was well-known for her ability to sew and worked as a glove maker up until about five years ago. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, the Women’s Society of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the 55 Plus Senior Citizens Group. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending all of their events and activities. She loved being their Mima. She will be missed dearly and forever remembered for her generous heart, her strength, her giving spirit, her delicious food and her strong faith in God. Mrs. Montanaro is survived by her daughter, Josephine Perna of Gloversville; her granddaughter, Christina Myers of Indiana; her great-grandsons, Brandon M. Perna and Jordan T. Perna of Broadalbin and their mother, Alicia Korona-Wilson; her great-grandson, Matthew Myers of Nevada; and her great-granddaughter, Samantha Aiken of Nevada. Mrs. Montanaro was predeceased by her grandson, Michael F. Perna on February 9, 2016. She is also survived by her brother, Anthonio Salvati of Australia; and her sisters-in-law, Filomena Salvati and Carmela Salvati, both of New York City. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Natalina Salvati Maquiling, Josette Salvati Villano, Tina, Enza, Anthony, Michael, Angelo, Frank and Fernando Salvati of New York City and Amelia, Natalina, Peter and Anthony Salvati of Australia. She is also survived by her aunt, Concetta Salvati, and her daughter, Natalina, of Italy. She is also survived by special family friend, Debbie Kilcullen of Latham. She is also survived byher step-daughter-in-law, Nora Montanaro and children, Thomas (Diana) and Lawrence Montanaro of AuSable Chasm. She is also survived by stepdaughters, Anita Montanaro and Claudette Brundage and her daughter, Claudette Royal of Gloversville. Mrs. Montanaro was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph Terminie, Frank Clemente and Albert Montanaro Sr. Mrs. Montanaro was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Salvati; her stepchild, Albert Montanaro Jr.; and her step-grandson, Albert Montanaro III. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 S. Main Street, Gloversville, New York from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Amico Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville, New York. Burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the church’s building fund.
