Donna Ann Oare

Donna Ann Oare, 85 of Canajoharie NY passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on February 28, 2021. Born on September 29, 1935 in Gloversville NY she was the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Pedrick) Oare. Donna received her education at Gloversville schools. She was the co-owner of The Miss Johnstown Diner with her late brother Kenny Oare after the death of Roy and Dorothy Oare which were the co-owners at the time. Donna was also short order cook at the King of the Frostys in Speculator NY. She then was employed at The NYS Tryon Girls Center where she treated all of the girls as her own and was retired from there in 1998. Donna is survived by her dearest friends Kim (Karl) Gustafson and her Godson Karl Gustafson Jr, which she was so honored of her title. Sisters, Arlene Smith of Gloversville, Patricia (Anthony) Ottuso of Gloversville, Yvonne (Fuzzy) Fosmire of Gloversville. Nieces and Nephews Bernie (Barbara) Smith of Mayfield, Anthony Jr. (Julie) Ottuso of Dania Beach Florida, Lynn (Bruce) Kinsley of Houston Texas, Ralph Ottuso of McAlester Oklahoma. Daniel Fosmire of Jacksonville Florida, Melissa (Frank) Young of Gloversville, Frank (Sara) Fosmire of Johnstown, Kim Oare Russo of Jupiter Florida, Tracey (Angelo) Saccocio of Johnstown. Several other great nieces and nephews and cousins. Donna was predeceased by her father and mother Roy and Dorothy (Pedrick) Oare, brother in law Bernie Smith. Two brothers Roy and Kenny and sister in law Joan Oare. Nieces Carol Ann Smith, Sherrie Oare and Karen Smith Cinelli. Donna was always up for good time. She was an avid bowler and participated in many bowling tournaments across New York state. She loved watching the NY Yankees and golfing Tiger Woods being her favorite. Her NASCAR favorite was Ricky Rudd because she liked his name! She was also a member of the Johnstown Moose. A friend to all, Donna was known for her kindness and generosity as well as always having a smile on her face, always putting other peoples needs before her own. The legacy she leaves behind is her love and friendship to her family and all who knew her. Donna enjoyed painting, making drawings for her family and friends and very much enjoyed photography. Donna enjoyed countless hours of fun with her godson Karl Jr. and his friends and was the founder of the infamous Flying J's (Karl, Zach, Kevin, Justin and Trevor and other recruits) It was hard to tell who was having more fun! She was an active member of the St. John's St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie, NY where she had many friends. Special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Arkell Hall Center for the care they gave her the past three years. She made numerous wonderful friendships while she was there.
