Gregory Thomas Allen

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Thomas Allen of Gloversville on July 8, 2026. He passed away surrounded by his loving family, which meant everything to him, and is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior. Greg’s gregarious laugh and smile lit up a thousand rooms. He was boisterous, and his sense of humor frequently brought on infectious "hold your belly" laughs. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. Greg was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on July 16, 1966, to Thomas and Joann Allen. He grew up in Coldbrook, New York, where hunting and fishing were his passions. He cherished spending time with his Grandma Powers, who called him "Little Man" and would cook the fish he caught that morning for breakfast. In his youth, he was also an avid soccer player and enjoyed playing basketball. After graduating from high school, Greg joined the United States Army as a Military Police officer. This led to a dedicated career in law enforcement with the Herkimer County Sheriff's Department and the Oneida Indian Nation Police Department, retiring early due to a disability. He is survived by his fiancé and devoted partner, Kimberly Griffiths, and her children, Kylie and Riley Griffiths. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his son, Joshua Wesley Allen (Ashleigh Allen), his daughter, Kaitlyn Edick (Tyler Edick) and son Jacob Denton (Kayla). He was a devoted grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Brady Matthew Flatt and Brooklyn Rose Allen, and was filled with exciting anticipation for the arrival of his third grandchild, Bryson Gregory Allen. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Kenneth Allen (Rachel) and Ann McKerrow (Dennis), along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends. He was predeceased by his caring and deeply faithful parents, Thomas and Joann Allen, as well as his grandparents and extended family members. Private services with full military honors will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. "Every man's life ends the same way...
