Rose Sarraino

Rose Sarraino, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2018. Rose was born on July 17, 1917 to the late John and Aurelia DiCiero Coney (Colantuono). She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and worked at the family grocery store and at various glove shops until she married the love of her life, Samuel Sarraino on October 20, 1946. They shared 47 years of marriage until his passing in 1993. Rose was very loving and caring, devoted to her family and church. She was a lifelong member of The Church of the Holy Spirit (formerly Our Lady of Mt. Carmel). She looked forward every week to attending mass, seeing her church family and going to dinner with Barb and Rich Tucci and her family. She loved to sew, cook and bake for family and friends. Family, food and fun were most important to her. Rose is survived by her children, Marie (Thomas) DeLuca, of Amsterdam; Petrina (Ronald) Zimmerman, of Gloversville; and Samuel (fiancée, Marie Ackerbauer), of Johnstown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samuel (Jessica) Zimmerman, of Mayfield; Amy Zimmerman of Albany, Anthony (Kim) Sarraino of Queensbury, and Jessie Sarraino of Lake Placid. She was blessed to have her great grandchildren, Kyle and Kolbe Zimmerman, and Caleb Sarraino, be part of her life. Rose is also survived by special nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother, Frank Coney, and a sister Jennie Paciolla. The family would like to recognize and give thanks to two “angels”, Debbie and Joy, who became special friends to Rose throughout these last five years. With their help Rose was able to live in her own home where she was happiest. In addition, a special thanks to Kristen. Their caring and compassion will never be forgotten. Friends are welcome to call at Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville, on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 9 AM-10:30 AM. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM., followed by an 11 AM. Mass of Christian burial celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit 149, South Main Street, with The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Spring entombment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
