Timothy (Tim) Best

On November 7, 2022, Timothy (Tim) Best of Caroga Lake died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 68 years old. Tim was a loved and loving son, husband, father, stepdaddy, and friend. Patricia and Donald Best welcomed the birth of Tim on June 17, 1954. He graduated from Deerfield Beach High School. On September 14, 1985, Tim married Carmella D’Errico at the bar his parents owned, Vrooman’s Hotel. Together they created a beautiful daughter, Tricia and he became stepfather to Kristine and Peter Orr. Tim started his career in Florida and for the last 50 years worked and then owned Vrooman’s Hotel with his mother, Pat Best, sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Jim Brockhum and wife Carmella. They retired from the bar business in October. Tim also gave to his Caroga Lake community by being on the town board for many years. Survivors include his wife, Carmella Best, daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Matt Hillock, stepdaughter and son-in-law Kristine Orr and Scott Jacques, stepson and daughter-in-law, Pete and Megan Orr, mother, Patricia Best, sister and brother-in-law Pamela and Jim Brockhum, brother and sister-in-law Gary and Stephanie Best, brother and niece, Jeffery Best and Shari Lynn Ybarra, his grandchildren, Makenna Orr and Colton Hillock, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Donald Best, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carmella and Vito (Peter) D’Errico. Friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 19, 2022, beginning at 2:00 pm at Vrooman’s Hotel (of course), Caroga Lake, NY. We will have a special toast in his honor and celebrate Tim’s life at 3:00 PM. For those of you that cannot make the celebration, the family encourages you to take a drive around Caroga and Canada Lake on any day and think of him. He took that ride often!
