Eileen Dorothy Studders

Eileen Studders passed peacefully at the age of 105 on Wednesday, January 7 at Mountain Valley Hospice. She was born and lived her entire life in Gloversville and was the daughter of Robert and Florence Meyers Studders. Eileen’s life was defined by a love for her family, friends, and community. She was an avid sports fan and participant, playing tennis and golf and enjoying the tennis US Open, Mets and Boston Red Sox baseball, and any game the Yankees lost. Eileen also enjoyed classical music and opera. Along with a quick wit and gifted intellect, she was known for her often-feisty personality and was the beloved matriarch of the Studders family. Eileen will be deeply missed, but her spirit, her commitment to her community and friends, and her love of family will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love of history was present in her vocation as a history teacher and in her travels to numerous historic sites. She witnessed and participated in a century of history and shared many inspiring stories of living history. Eileen was a 1938 graduate of Gloversville High School, Gloversville Business School, and Syracuse University. She was employed by the Gloversville School District as a clerk at McNab School from 1939 to 1953 and as a teacher at Estee Junior High School from 1955 until she retired in 1975. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, now the Church of the Holy Spirit of Gloversville, and a member of the NY State Retired Teachers, Fulton County Retired Teachers, and Gloversville Retired Teachers associations. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Studders and Thomas Studders, and nephew Bruce Studders. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Gail Veeder (Warren), Linda Waber (Thomas), James Studders, Barbara Strine (Stephen), Laura Studders (spouse of Bruce), Judith Westhoven, Karen Studders, Mary Korn (Thomas), John Studders (Joanne), and Susan Studders. Her family is grateful for the dedicated care provided by Visiting Nurses Home Care for many years and the care provided by Mountain Valley Hospice. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit of Gloversville, Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11 am. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit of Gloversville or the Gloversville Public Library.
